Hard Work Leads to Top Grades and Sparks Celebrations Making Summer 2025 One to Remember

A Level Results Overwhelmingly Exceed National Picture

A Level Results Day has always been an important event in the Bishop Thomas Grant School calendar, and a chance to come together as the Year 13 family one last time to celebrate so it was good to see the main hall full of students and teachers. Even though most had already seen their results at home students shared that they felt they needed to be with their friends and around the staff who had supported them through their school journey.

Overall the A level and BTEC results for 2025 are, 45% A*-A (Distinction*- Distinction), 89% A*-C (Distinction*- Merit) and 100% A-E (Distinction*-Pass).

Those with most cause to celebrate with their BTG family were those who had achieved their “firm” offers from the universities of their choice, notably Jessica, who secured her place at the Royal Veterinary College (University of London) to read Veterinary Medicine and Stella (Cambridge University, History) - both achieved a full house of A* grades, as did Innes, who will take up her place at Trinity College Dublin to study History and Political Science. Northern Universities have been popular this year with Nathan (Engineering) and Gabriel (Classics) going to Durham and Emma (Astrophysics) and Charlie (Theoretical Physics) won places at St. Andrews in Scotland.

Medicine was a popular choice as usual with three students securing places this September, all with steely determination to devote their talents to serving others and supporting the NHS. London Universities remain a popular choice for a large number of students, with UCL attracting students Pablo (Maths), Isabelle (Chemistry) and Darin-Jesse (Law) and Imperial for Joshlynn and Konrad (both Chemistry).

Sophie, who had so often delighted audiences at music concerts with her piano playing, shone at auditions to become a Conservatoire success with a place on a Jazz degree course at Trinity Laban, meanwhile Oliver is on his way to his commercial pilot licence in the University of West London.

Sometimes Clearing places are dismissed as a last resort by students, despite one of our tutor's stories that they once found a place in clearing at Cambridge for a student with a B in German and Jakub's story this year is definitely one to remember - having realised in the spring of year 13 that he really wanted to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) rather then the courses he had applied for through UCAS he asked all the universities if they would support a change of course to PPE. One of the universities that replied with a firm "no" was UCL, however, at 8.30am on Results Day he spotted a place for PPE at UCL in Clearing, and within an hour he was accepted! There's a message there somewhere!
