A message from the Head Boy Tiago Freitas

Hi, I’m Tiago Freitas and I just want to say that we’re all in this together! I know that staying at home and having no sense of “routine” may be boring and hard to cope with, but there are many people who you can talk to and get in contact with. At the end of the day, we’re all in the same boat and having to go through the same thing. Personally, I’m finding this tough, I am currently at home and having to juggle doing my work, coursework, exams and even looking and applying for university.
At this point in time, all I can say is that we have to be positive and hope for the best in the future. It may seem a lot at times and even stressful, but don’t forget to reach out to anyone and talk to friends to distract yourself.

A message from the Head Girl Renee Okeke

In these uncertain and difficult times the leadership team of Bishop Thomas Grant believes that it is essential for parents and students alike to have some form of communication with key members of the Sixth Form team. Understandably when faced with difficult circumstances it easy turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms that can easily affect our mental health. Therefore I want to emphasise the significance of talking to friends or family about any concerns that you may have in terms of school work, extracurricular activities or workload. I have learnt that a simple 5 minute conversation a day with peers, teachers or parents can help bring some normality to what otherwise be an unmanageable situation. Ultimately, I have found that finding the right work-play balance can make a huge difference in a student’s long term mental health. So put down the T.V remote and talk to friends, go outside and get some fresh air or catch up with family members. Just do whatever makes you happy :)
